Mini Golf Mercies and Bowling Bumpers

The other day I was out playing mini golf with my mom and siblings. I had a great start and felt I was on my way to my best score yet! Then we reached a hole with a BIG hill. My sisters had struggled a little on the previous holes and we had given them "do-overs" that didn't count toward their score. It was mini golf, no one takes it that seriously... right? Well, I could not get up that big hill. After 3 tries I finally made it feeling a little disappointed about my "best game" yet score. My group told me I didn't have to count two of those strokes. I should have been thrilled. That would put me back in the running for getting my best score yet! Instead, I felt like it wouldn't count. My great low score wouldn't "really" be true. Rainy Days Ahead

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 There's no way around it, we're going to get wet sometimes. Yet we are told that in Christ we may have peace. That's a treasured and beautiful truth but not really the part that was jumping out at me today. It was the second half that was catching my attention. I always find "tribulation" and "good cheer" to be in such start contrast to one another! Now sometimes I think things get a little lost in the translation so I like to look words up in Strong's concordance for clarity. To be of "good cheer" can also mean to be of "good comfort" but it comes from another word that means "to have courage." To Remember or Not to Remember

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. - Isaiah 43:18 Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, - Isaiah 46:9 The other day while reading through a Bible study workbook I read Isaiah 46:9. The similarity of wording made me immediately think of Isaiah 43:18. In chapter 43 He's telling me not to remember the former things and three chapters later He's telling me to remember the former things. Lets take a look at the context of each of these. “ Do not remember the former things , Nor consider the things of old.
