For You!

With Easter approaching there have been many advertisements on the radio about church services and programs. One such commercial was for a passion play that was to be put on this weekend. The commercial had a dramatic edge to it as it told of the “spectacular dance and aerial gymnastics” that would be present. This commercial never intrigued me despite their gripping words and dramatic speaking; the only thing I ever caught from it was in the middle when the man would declare passionately “You’ll be transformed!” (He then went on to tell me about the dancing and gymnastics.) “You’ll be transformed!” would call out from the radio and every time I heard it the Holy Spirit would gently add: “By the renewing of your mind,” This commercial sounded a lot like the new Veggietales movie called T’was the Night before Easter . It tells the story of a woman (vegetable,) who believes she can transform people’s lives through the power of theater. In the end she realizes that it takes more th

The Screamin' Yellow Truck.

I was hiking this morning and as I crossed this open field I spotted something on the horizon. Stopping I squinted to see this little yellow speck. I thought for a moment in disbelief, Is that my car? I was almost a mile away! Perhaps this shouldn’t have shocked me for the shade of yellow with which my vehicle is painted, is called Screamin’ Yellow. (This is not a vehicle you lose in the parking lot!) When I got back to my car, I was surprised to find an Explorer parked next to me that look just like mine use to. It was a short, two tone teal and tan, possibly only a year newer than mine. I smiled as I looked at my lifted, yellow truck with big tires. The whole way home I marveled at the transformation. When I first got my car it was teal and tan with a crunched fender and backdoor and it was dead from a busted transmission. We had to tow it home but it being under a thousand dollars was in my fifteen year old price range and I was thrilled. The thing was an absolute mess! The inside

I Locked My Keys in My Car

On Saturday morning (April 2 nd ) Al and I headed over, in her car, to the University to take some pics for her graduation announcements. When we arrived I got out of the car and heard this strange hissing noise. After a moment of investigation I realized it was a leak in the back tire! After calling home my dad said we should try and get home, (unless we wanted to try and change the tire with the crummy jack supplied with the car.) The catch? You can’t drive on a flat tire, so we got to the nearest gas station and slightly over filled the tire before taking off for home. The whole way we eyed every gas station wondering if we should stop again. We did stop at one more and made it home. My dad then said he’d take care of the tire so we could go take the pictures. So we took my car and went over to the park. We took some nice pictures then headed back to the car. It was then that I realized I’d taken off my coat and had left it in the car… with the keys in the pocket! Along with both o
