My Job Moment

It's easy to sing when there's nothing to bring me down, But what will I say when I'm held to the flame like I am right now? The question that remains unanswered in the life of most followers of Christ is this: Why doesn't God take away my pain and suffering? This question has shaken the faith of many a believer and many have fallen over it. We all have our Job moments, or seasons in life. When incredible suffering and pain, whether physical or emotional, hit our lives. And it's in these times that this question isn't far away.  In these times we can't answer for Him, but we can answer for us.  When the tears are in our eyes, and the pain is so excruciating there's nothing that brings relief. We have the opportunity to answer.  Will you curse God and die for what you don't understand? (Job 2:9) Will you allow depression and despair to overtake you? I've felt the pull of those dark clouds, I've felt the anger of help

The Immovable Furniture

Recently my dad and I put in a new wood floor for an elderly couple. When we arrived at the job they were a pleasant pair who explained to us that they had moved as much of their furniture as they could but some things were just too heavy for them. Our work ticket specified that we were being paid to move the furniture so this wasn't a surprise. We moved the bed, dressers, chairs, desk, books shelves, and night stands out of our way and then for the next two days worked to install the floor. The woman was a little concerned about the delivery of a large new rug that they wanted to have put in the master bedroom when we were done. We couldn't tell her when exactly we'd be done in there, but I assured her if they delivered it and we weren't done that we'd roll out the rug for them before we moved the furniture back and she seemed satisfied. When we finished the floor, we began to pack up our tools and move on to putting the furniture back. In those last couple h
